Gary Flint, founder of Flint Custom Homes, has a long history of construction education, experience and expertise in the building field. He graduated from the University of Texas with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering having learned design of structural materials focusing on wood, concrete, and steel. He learned architectural design of residential and commercial projects and completed the engineering training program for the Texas Board of Professional Engineers. He worked as a structural engineer in the field for several years designing with a heavy concentration on residential structures, engineered over 400 residential foundation plans, inspected job sites and performed structural observations for permits. His extensive training has taught him that the best way to produce a home is to begin the process from the engineering standpoint, by making the foundation and framing the most important aspects of a home.
Upon becoming a general contractor, Gary has built over 50 custom homes in the Austin and surrounding areas averaging 500,000.00 and up to 3.5 million. He has remodeled over 100 homes from small homes up to 7000 s.f. He has built over 40,000 s.f. of light commercial, including office space, a kennel, a church, and a motel.
Gary has built all over Austin and the surrounding cities and neighborhoods. Lake Travis is his home area and his initial focus for building included Costa Bella, Barton Creek, Lakeway, The Hills of Lakeway, The Estates of Lakeway Hills, Vineyard Bay Waterfront Community, Paleface Ranch Subdivision, The Homestead, Travis Settlement, and Westview on Lake Austin.
Gary uses his architectural design degree and background along with his artistic eye to improve value and the “look” of the house that creates an impeccable flow throughout the home. His interior design and architectural talents are also incorporated in to the building process in order to make an idea, a sketch, a floor plan, and a dream into a reality.
